About Us
Their story could be the lyrics to a song. Two people, a thousand miles apart, brought together by their love… of country music.
And country music, more specifically Kenny Chesney, did truly bring these two together. Lauren Black, from Orlando, Florida and Erin Lefebvre, from Scarborough, Maine first met at a 2007 Chesney concert in Saratoga, New York.
For months following the concert, Lauren and Erin’s friendship grew despite their distance. Their conversations quickly evolved from whether or not they thought Kenny’s tractor is sexy, and they came to realize they both love everything about country music.
After listening to Lauren and Erin chatting on the phone for hours each day, Lauren’s boyfriend half jokingly remarked, “All you two talk about is country music, you should start a blog.” And so they did.
The name says it all, CountryMusicIsLove.com. From the very beginning, CMIL has been a website for fans of country music, by fans of country music.
“When we started the website, our goal was, and always will be, to give fans a place to stay connected to country music and the artists they love,” says Lefebvre.
In just three years, CMIL has evolved into the go-to website for the most up-to-date country music news, album and concert reviews, and exclusive artist interviews.
Lauren and Erin have interviewed artists on the red carpet and backstage at the Academy of Country Music Awards, CMT Music Awards, and American Country Awards. Every year they report from the streets of Nashville during the CMA Music Festival; bringing the hottest concerts and fan parties to CMIL for those who cannot attend.
In February 2010, CMIL held its first annual CountryMusicIsLove Concert Benefiting City of Hope.
“The country music community is always giving back,” says Black. “We’re thankful to have a platform that allows up to do the same and spread the love.”
To date, the CountryMusicIsLove has donated over ten thousand dollars to City of Hope.
The website has been featured in the pages of national publications and Lauren and Erin can be heard on radio stations across the country delivering the latest country music news. In 2011, the CMIL became the official GRAMMY.com Blogger for Country Music for the 54th GRAMMY Awards.
